    The Dark Knight

So... My roommate, her boyfriend, and I went to watch The Dark Knight last Friday evening.  We bought the tickets online because we didn't want to be left out in the cold when it got sold out later that night.  And even though we left on time, it left us no seats available in the IMAX theater.  I suppose we should've been there at least 45 minutes earlier.  So we got stuck sitting in the very front row, which is no place to be even if you were in a regular theater.  I mean, no matter how much we tilted our heads back, the chairs so inconveniently would not lean backwards.  We were watching a movie on a six-story high movie screen, from about twenty feet away.  I think at one point, there was a scene where the camera switched from Harvey Dent to Det. Gordon as they were conversing.  Every time the camera panned over to Dent, he was on the left side of the screen, and when it panned to Gordon, he was on the right side of the screen, so we were doing some serious head-turning every two seconds.  At other points, the close-ups were like image overloads for our brains, and we could only focus on one part of their faces, like the eye, or the cheekbone, or something.  It was quite ridiculous, the way we watched it.

The experience did not, however, diminish my appreciation for Heath Ledger's outstanding performance as the Joker.

My last entry was apparently four days ago.  I don't even remember signing into Xanga four days ago.  In fact, I thought I hadn't signed into Xanga for at least a week.  I guess my memory serves me poorly.

My roommate and I have made a very casual plan to go watch "The Dark Knight" on Sunday night on IMAX.  We wanted to see the movie when it first came out, but our schedules did not match up, and she kept going down to the States to visit her soon-to-be-fiance.

So yay for a day off on Monday.  We finally get to see Batman and Joker.

    Work was entertaining today.
I teach a group of high schoolers at this private academy/institution in the corner of Langley -- my class constitutes of three girls and three boys.

Today, one of my boys raised his hand in the middle of class, while we were doing individual work, and asked to go to the bathroom.  No harm in that, so I gave him permission.

Fifteen-ish minutes pass by, and no sign of him.  I started to wonder if he was taking a dump in the bathroom or something.  Then I glanced outside the window, and lo and behold, he's walking towards our building from afar.  I don't even know how he managed to get out of the building in the middle of class time without our receptionist seeing him.  But he managed it, and I was watching him trod his way back to class.

When he walked back into the room, I said, "Good walk?"
He looked a bit bewildered, as if he was wondering how I knew.  "Yeah," he answered.
"So... the bathroom is all the way out there, huh?"  I asked.
"Yeah," was all he said as he walked back to his seat.

I don't think I've ever met a student who ditched class, only to return fifteen minutes later.

The other week, also, I got to throw a pen cap at one of the boys (the same boy, in fact) because he was sleeping.  Perhaps, next time, I will give him a wet willy, though that may be quite unprofessional.

It's my first entry since 2006, even though my weblog records that I wrote back in March, but I didn't actually write that.
So it's ironic that my last entry says "I'm bringing Xanga back."

I am mildly surprised my Xanga account hasn't cancelled itself out of lack of use.  It's still here.  I've had to do some profile updating.  Not much of a change.

But I am going to try to update my page more often.  Let's see how long this commitment lasts.  It's almost like making a New Year's resolution, which has NEVER worked out well for me.
